Modern Slavery Statement

1. Our Commitment

Senator & Co is committed to conducting business responsibly, fairly and ethically.

We do not tolerate modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour or exploitation in our business or in the organisations we choose to work with.

Although Senator & Co is not currently required to publish a statement under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we believe responsible businesses of every size should play their part. We therefore publish this statement voluntarily.

2. About Senator & Co

Senator & Co is a Scotland-based business advisory firm supporting entrepreneurs, businesses and charities.

We provide and coordinate a range of business and professional services, including:

  • business advisory and management support;
  • accountancy services;
  • legal and professional support;
  • websites and digital services;
  • marketing and content;
  • printing and promotional services;
  • cost reduction; and
  • charity development and support.

Some services are provided directly by Senator & Co, while others may involve trusted associates, professional advisers, consultants, suppliers and specialist third-party providers.

3. Our Approach

Our approach is simple: we want to work with people and organisations who share our commitment to fair and responsible business.

We expect those working with or supplying Senator & Co to:

  • comply with applicable employment and labour laws;
  • treat people fairly and with respect;
  • provide safe and appropriate working conditions;
  • not use forced, compulsory or trafficked labour;
  • not exploit vulnerable workers; and
  • take concerns about modern slavery seriously.

We will not knowingly work with an organisation involved in modern slavery, human trafficking or serious labour exploitation.

4. Our Suppliers & Business Partners

As a professional services business, Senator & Co does not currently operate a large or complex supply chain.

Our relationships may include professional advisers, consultants, associates, technology providers, marketing businesses, printers, promotional merchandise suppliers and other service providers.

We aim to work with reputable and responsible suppliers and partners and take a proportionate approach to considering ethical standards when selecting the organisations we work with.

Where appropriate, we may ask suppliers or business partners for further information about their working practices or their own approach to modern slavery.

5. Understanding the Risks

We recognise that modern slavery risks can vary considerably between sectors, services and supply chains.

While much of Senator & Co’s work is professional and office-based, some services we purchase or arrange may involve wider supply chains.

We will therefore remain particularly alert where goods or services may involve:

  • outsourced or temporary labour;
  • manufacturing;
  • printing and promotional merchandise;
  • clothing or textiles;
  • cleaning and facilities services;
  • overseas production or sourcing; or
  • other areas where labour or supply-chain risks may be higher.

Our approach will remain proportionate to the nature and level of risk involved.

6. Raising Concerns

We encourage anyone working with Senator & Co to raise concerns if they become aware of suspected modern slavery, human trafficking or serious exploitation connected with our activities or supply chain.

Concerns will be taken seriously and considered appropriately.

Where we identify a genuine concern, we will consider the circumstances carefully and take appropriate action. This may include seeking further information, working with the relevant organisation to address the concern, obtaining professional advice or ending a business relationship where appropriate.

7. Our Ongoing Commitment

We recognise that responsible business is an ongoing commitment.

As Senator & Co grows, we will continue to review:

  • the suppliers and partners we work with;
  • areas where modern slavery risks may arise;
  • our approach to supplier selection and due diligence;
  • whether additional policies, checks or training are appropriate; and
  • how we can continue to improve our business practices.

Our aim is simple: grow responsibly, work with good people and maintain high standards throughout our business relationships.

8. Review of this Statement

We will review this statement periodically and update it as Senator & Co, our services and our supplier relationships develop.

If Senator & Co becomes subject to the statutory reporting requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we will review our reporting and approval arrangements accordingly.

Current Government guidance recommends that statutory statements address organisational structure and supply chains, policies, risk assessment, due diligence, training, and monitoring/effectiveness.
